I joined NARFE in 2008 as an active employee and retired in 2010 after 32 years of service with the Department of Defense and the Department of the Army. From 1978 to 1995 I worked for DOD in Laurel, Maryland and Norfolk, VA. From 1995 until my retirement in 2010 I worked for DA at Ft. Monroe, VA. I retired as the futures division chief in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G2 at the US Army Training in Doctrine Command (TRADOC).
Upon retirement I moved to North Carolina and became active in NARFE. I was the President of Chapter 2295 in Roxboro, NC 2011-2023. I was th NC Federation Public Affairs Officer, Area IV VP, and Federation President from 2016 to 2018. I'm currently the NARFE Region X Vice President
Nationally I served on the NARFE Bylaws Committee from 2014 to 2020, chairing the committee from 2016 to 2020.
I served in the US ARMY from 1972 to 1975. I'm also a member of my county Planning Board; a delegate to the Senior Tar Heel Legislature; and the federal co-chair of the 4th Branch, an organization seeking to have all public employ retiree (military and federal/state/local civil servant) pensions exempt from NC state income tax.
