Bio

NARFE Experience
I joined NARFE as an active federal employee in 2006.  After retirement from federal service, I became President of NARFE Billie Love chapter 2286 in 2011 and served in that position until 2022.  In 2012, I was appointed Colorado Federation Vice President for Membership.  I was elected President of the Colorado Federation in 2013 and 2015.  I served a third term as Colorado Federation President from 2021 to 2022.  I currently serve as Congressional District Leader for Colorado's seventh congressional district.  I have been a NARFE life member since 2015. 

In 2015 and 2017 I was a member of NARFE’s Strategic Planning Committee.  I served on the NARFE Bylaws Committee in 2016, 2018, 2019-2020 and was appointed Chair of the 2021-2022 Bylaws Committee by the NARFE National President. I am presently a member of the Dues Categories Reduction Project Team.  

Federal Service
In 2008, I retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) after almost thirty-eight years of federal service.  My career started as a VA claims examiner in the Des Moines, Iowa VA Regional Office.  I later transferred to VA headquarters in Washington, DC joining the Veterans Benefits Administration where I served in a variety of managerial and executive positions.

Education
I attended Iowa State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1970.  Later, I pursued graduate studies in Public Administration at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. I attended numerous management development programs provided by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management including the Senior Executive Service Development program at the Federal Executive Institute.

Military Service 
From 1963 to 1966 I served in the Navy and am a Vietnam War veteran.
