Bio

I am proud to begin serving as the Region II Vice President this January. Until the recent election I had served for the last eight years  as Chair of NARFE Maryland Federation’s State Legislation Committee (SLC). As Chair I advocated for issues for retirees including pharmaceutical pricing, tax relief, and long-term care insurance incentives. This year alone, I testified before six legislative committees on thirteen different bills and was honored to be invited to the signing by the Governor of one of my successful efforts.

After retirement from Federal Service, I served as:

The political columnist for the Montgomery County Sentinel newspaper serving as White House and Congressional correspondent writing a weekly column.

Member of the National Commission on Children and Disasters subcommittee.

Member of Montgomery County's Committee on Public Election Funds.

My Federal career spanned 37 years during which I held several high level managerial positions including:

Director, Trade Enforcement for U.S. Customs at Customs headquarters in Washington.

Chief, Inter-Agency Coordination for FEMA post Katrina responsible for implementing a program to identify vulnerabilities prior to the onset of a disaster.

Member of the team selected to integrate 26 separate Federal agencies into the newly established Department of Homeland Security.
